HBO Picks Up ‘Silicon Valley’ Pilot

From Deadline:

EXCLUSIVE: HBO has picked up to pilot Silicon Valley, a single-camera dark comedy from King Of The Hill co-creator/executive producer Mike Judge and fellow King Of The Hill executive producers John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.

Just a pilot at this point, but I am very interested to see how this pans out.

EU Nintendo Wii U Mature Content Is Time Restricted

Do you live in Europe and want to access 18-rated content on the Wii U eShop, including trailers? Unless its between 11pm and 3am, you’re out-of-luck. Nintendo’s response when questioned:

“We have thus decided to restrict the access to content which is unsuitable to minors (PEGI) to the 11pm - 3am time window.”

I have an idea: parental controls. Time restrictions will only enrage your customers—the adults who purchased your system and do not want to be treated like children. Good thing this policy is not slated for the US.

The iPad as a Writing Platform

Jason Snell wrote a piece on why he writes on his iPad. From the article:

The iPad also offers a remarkable lack of distractions. When I write on my Mac I find I am endlessly checking Twitter and email and my weather station’s current conditions page and anything else I can find to distract myself from the difficult task of putting one word in front of another. On the iPad, I am more focused—and when I do finally take a break to check my email, it feels like an actual break, not a distraction.

He nails it with that quote. I find that writing on my iPad—while not as fast—is very much a distraction-free experience. It also explains why full screen writing apps like WriteRoom are popular.

Tim Cook Talking Television: “It’s an area of intense interest”

Here’s an interesting quote from Apple CEO Tim Cook to Brian Williams:

“When I go into my living room and turn on the TV, I feel like I have gone backwards in time by 20 to 30 years,” Cook told Williams. “It’s an area of intense interest. I can’t say more than that.”

I wonder if Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster experienced an euphoric rush at that moment.

Tim Cook: Mac Line Will Be Produced in US in 2013

While being interviewed by Brian Williams on Rock Center, Apple CEO Tim Cook made the following statement:

“Next year, we will do one of our existing Mac lines in the United States”

Could it be the new iMac that, in some cases, is already being marked as Assembled in USA? Alexander Hoffmann argues, instead, that it could be the Mac Pro.

In case you missed the interview on NBC, I have embedded the segment below:
